COUNSELLING
WellingtonPentagon_edited.png

Counselling is a type of therapeutic intervention that involves a trained professional, often referred to as a counselor or therapist, who provides guidance, support, and non-judgmental listening to individuals or groups who are facing challenges or experiencing emotional distress. The goal of counselling is to help clients gain insight, develop coping skills, and make positive changes in their lives.

NEUROFEEDBACK

NeurOptimalⓇ brain training is an EEG-based neurofeedback system that allows you to “exercise” your brain, as you would your body. Neurofeedback tunes into the brain’s activity in order to provide it with a reflection of itself, through low-intensity audio and visual feedback. It’s like allowing the brain to look in a mirror so that it can make adjustments as needed.

Nervous systems in all states can benefit from neurofeedback. Symptoms you might notice if your nervous system could use some balancing are brain fog, stress, lack of focus or attention, dulled creativity, irritability or impatience, racing thoughts, poor sleep, disruptions in appetite, consistent lack of motivation or energy.

NeurOptimalⓇ neurofeedback works to regulate the nervous system and may reduce the severity of symptoms in such conditions as:

PTSD, Depression, Autism, Chronic pain, Anxiety and OCD, Emotional dysregulation, Addiction, Trauma.

Life can be messy and hard, period. As human beings we need connection and are not meant to navigate life alone. The relieving reality is that we don’t have to. As someone who has experienced many hardships and challenges of my own, I know firsthand the sheer grit it takes to keep going and the bravery involved in finding support.

I am not the expert of your life, but rather you are and I can support you as you learn to discover and listen to your own inner healing intelligence. I use a holistic integrative approach that I believe is imperative to any healing journey. There is no one size fits all modality as we are multifaceted, complex beings and our minds, bodies and spirits are deserving of equal attention and care.

If you are seeking a genuine, compassionate, skilled professional who has over ten years of experience in the mental health field to journey with you on your path, it would be my privilege to support you.

Since a young age, I always knew I wanted to help people. As I grew up and went through my own hardships, the field of counselling became more intriguing every day. Learning about the brain was something I was drawn to since high school, as it plays a critical role in human life and mental health. I have been in the field of mental health and counselling for about 7+ years and primarily work with children, youth, and young adults.

It takes a lot of courage to start counselling and by providing a safe, open, and stable place to start this journey, is an imperative part of my practice. Another focus of mine is to ensure support, guidance, and empowerment to the clients I work with. Being able to work alongside clients and watch their progress/growth, is such a rewarding experience. I believe that it is important for a counselor to respect the client’s autonomy and to work collaboratively with them, throughout the counselling journey.

During the therapeutic process, showing compassion, empathy, honesty, active listening, flexibility and a judgement free zone, could guide a deeper connection and conversation to be had. I strongly feel by meeting the clients where there at, finding out there needs, and adjusting accordingly, can improve the overall outcome of counselling.

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Play Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT), Narrative Therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Nature-Based Therapy (Ecotherapy).
